Can You Open A New Bank Account While You Are Bankrupt In Ontario?
It is recommended that you open a new bank account with another bank (one you do not owe any money to) prior to you filing for bankruptcy. This way you will not have any creditors attempting to take money out of your account without your permission. A bank can not refuse you to open a new account (unless it is for illegal purposes and they suspect it). Even though it is possible to open a new bank account while in bankruptcy some banks may be unwilling to do so.
